Publix Highlights: 11/18 - 11/25

First of all I would like to give a big "HOLLLAAA!" to my friend Tessie, who came by and took my 2-year-old  3-year-old  to run errands with her.  After getting up from the table 32 times during just the Bi-Lo ad alone, I was starting to despair of ever getting this one done!
This is a great week at Publix - I really need butter and vegetable oil, so I'm super-happy to give those a place on my "faves" list.  After that, all the other deals are just gravy! (Speaking of gravy, Bi-Lo's got some great deals on it this week...)

Reminder: Ground Beef Coupon..Expiring Soon!

I just started on the Publix Highlights, but I wanted to take a brief intermission to remind you all about this HOT printable I posted awhile back.  It expires on the 27th, so get in a few good uses before it does!

I am still working on your Bi-Lo highlights, but I just wanted to get the word out there before anyone hits the stores today.
Go HERE, enter the code A23568.  When it asks you what grocery, choose "Other", and write "Other" in the blank as well.  (Otherwise, it will restrict you to using these at one particular store.) See if you've won a coupon, or a hamburger timer- if you win a coupon, do a dance!

  • The coupon is for 50¢ Off ANY Ground Beef Purchase, and is a PDF file, so you can save it to your computer and print as many times as you'd like!! (exp 11/27)
  • The best part for me, though, is that even though it says "Do Not Double" at the top, many stores will double it anyway (the store's decision, comes out of their pocket), as the barcode starts in a 5.  That means $1 Off each purchase! (It does state limit one per day, so please follow that request).
As long as you pick out small packages of beef, or have small packages made up for you, you can get VERY cheap ground beef for the foreseeable future!!
-Thanks MoreThanCents!

Bi-Lo Highlights: 11/18 - 11/26

It's another happy-dance week at Bi-Lo!  The Free Cool Whip, cheap gravy and Country Crock mashed potatoes are on my Thanksgiving list anyway, so I'm happy to see those deals.  If you look inside the BonusSaver (a month-long ad that you will find beside the weekly ads in your store) you will see some coupons for shrimp rings, but more importantly a $1.50 off Kraft coupon and a Bi-Lo gift card promotion!  Buy 10 of any Kelloggs, Keebler or SUnshine products (4 oz +) in one transaction, and you will get a catalina printout to send in for a $10 Bi-Lo gift card!  Just a note: this promotion is good for awhile, so no need to race to do it right away.  Not sure yet if there's a limit tied to your BonusCard or not, I'll let you know!

Got Milk?

Found any good deals on milk lately?
 This tip was sent in by one of our readers.  Mayfield Milk at Walgreens on Treasury Drive in Cleveland, TN is reported to be $2.79 including tax.

Remember YMMV. (your mileage may vary)
Meaning it may not be the same price at every Walgreens.  The price of the same item may differ between stores in the same city within a mile of each other.  I know, I know more confusion.   Thanks Crystal!

Let the Holiday Coupon Scavenger Hunt BEGIN!!

The Holiday season is the BEST time to find great coupons at all sorts of places. Why? Manufacturers know that food is a big part of Holiday Traditions - and they'd like to become YOUR tradition. If you decide to use Libby's canned pumpkin for your Thanksgiving dessert, then you'll probably decide to use the same brand next year ("tradition!"), and the year after that, and your daughter will remember and carry on that tradition with her family!
Their motive is clear: if Libby's can lure you in with a high-value coupon this Holiday, they stand to get generations of repeat business. So how do you take advantage of their logic to get all the good ones out there?

1. Variety is the Spice of Life!
If you ALWAYS go to Bi-Lo, and you've got everything they have to offer, shake up your routine a bit.  Stop in a Dollar Store for toilet-paper or milk, swing by K-Mart for... some made-up reason.  No matter what store you find yourself running into, take the time to speed-walk down every aisle looking for tearpads and blinkies. I have even gone out of my way (to SuperSaver) just on a hunch that they might have good tearpads that haven't been stripped bare. They did!
2. Ask and You Shall Receive
Occasionally, coupons are kept behind counters.  For instance, sometimes the cosmetics counter at Walgreens has coupons that they haven't put out yet.  I can't guarantee you they will give you one, but it never hurts to ask!  Also, sometimes gas stations keep coupons behind the counter.  Give it an extra glance next time you're paying for something!

3.  You're Getting Warmer....
Don't just scan the shelves for coupons- get creative.  Think, "If I were a tearpad, where would I hide?"  A-HA!  That cardboard display! or  A-HA!  That Christmas-y Arrangement of Baking Supplies!

4. Share the Love!
I know, I know, all this may sound a little bit crazy... but how will you feel next time we match up a BOGO item to some obscure Holiday Savings Booklet... and YOU have it!  There's only one rule in this Scavenger Hunt, and that is the Golden Rule of Couponers:

Take a COUPLE, leave the rest!  There are so many of us, and so few tearpads.... please don't be a "Scrooge" this Holiday Season!

Black Friday One-Stop Planning Spot!

I've debated back and forth about trying to post updates on all the Black Friday ads that are getting released early, but with all the other things on my list, it kept getting pushed back.  Now, though, we don't have to search the internet for Black Friday ads - they've got them all in once convenient place!

BlackFriday.info has all the current releases on Black Friday ads: from Target to the drugstores- you can plan your Black Friday "Black Ops" with their list!  Of course, when it gets a little closer to time, we'll post a few highlights that have coupon match-ups, but for now, take a look and see what interests you!

$5 El Monterey Coupon!!!!

WHOA!  How often do you see a $5 coupon?
Well, if you want to see one in real life, go submit a recipe or idea on the El Monterey Facebook Page, and you'll be prompted to fill out a form so they can mail you this HIGH-VALUE coupon.
Now, listen, when you get it, DON'T run out and spend it right away!  Okay?  Promise??  Save it for a little while, until they have a BOGO sale or something, so that you can get double the product with it!
Deal?  Good!

Publix Penny Item: Hot Dogs (Wah-Wah)

Word on the street is that Publix Penny Item is.... Publix Brand Hot Dogs.

That "Wah-Wah" you see in the title is my disappointed sound effect.  If you could hear it live, you would feel my disappointment.  Not that there is anything wrong with a good hotdog, but I have so many hotdogs from previous sales- what am I going to do with those?  I mean, I can't even donate that, really.
But who knows?  At my Publix last week, we got Green Giant Vegetables instead of the Penny Item.  So hey, fingers crossed for substitutions!

Target Price-Match UPDATE

**Despite all the good information below, it looks like Target is not going to budge on this "doorbuster" thing.  There are going to be lots of Holiday ads coming out, with lots of 1-Day or 2-Day deals, and as of now, Target managers are contending that they do NOT honor those ads (ignoring the fact that their policy doesn't mention it as an exclusion).  There is talk that they are rethinking their policy even....  so I guess the new rule of thumb, is not to try anything involving a 1 or 2-Day Supersale when it comes to price-matching.

OKAY!
Several of you had problems trying to price-match the Toys-R-Us Door Buster ad yesterday morning to get the 49¢ Leapfrog Alphabet Pal.  Here's what CommonSenseWithMoney pointed out from the Target Corporate Policy:

Price matching will apply to current, local print ads for in-store products only. Our price-match policy is not applicable to Target.com or other online ads. The following is a full list of exclusions:
* Target.com or Online promotions
* Competitor’s Free Product
* GiftCards
* Limited quantity items
* Open box or damaged
* Clearance or closeout
* Mail-in offers
* Services (warranties, assembly, etc.)
* Bundle offers
* Special order
* Sales-tax promotions
* Liquidation/going out of business
* Special financing
* Coupons - *I assume this means they will not match competitor's coupon*
* Used or previously owned
* Display merchandise
* Pricing or typographical errors
* Club or loyalty

You should print this Here and take it with you whenever you plan to price-match.

In addition, Target was contacted regarding using a price match and a Target Coupon, and this summarizes Target's reply:
We do accept the manufacturer coupon and/or Target coupon to be used with the Low Price Promise Ad Match for a further price reduction.
(You can print this email response Here.)

- a BIG, FAT "THANK YOU" to Mercedes for clearing that up for us!
