This comes at the PERFECT time, because I was just at my friend Debbie's house sampling all her homemade turkey meatballs (I "sampled" about 4 or 5) and wondering if there were any good sales on turkey.... Now I can just get some free! She is a very awesome mommy (She has 4 kids under 5!), and was freezing ziploc bags of these for future spaghetti suppers. I got the recipe from her, and thought I'd share with all of you. And hey! It uses Italian Breadcrumbs, which you hopefully stocked up on last week at Publix!
Debbie's Turkey Meatballs
Ingredients:1 lb of Ground Turkey (or beef, if you prefer)
1/2 cup Italian Bread Crumbs
1/4 Cup Diced Onion (optional)
1 Egg
1/4 Cup Milk
1/2 tsp Pepper
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
Preheat oven to 400. Mix everything together in a big bowl. Form into balls and place on a cookie sheet (line w/ tin foil or wax paper for easy cleanup). Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes. Makes about 20 meatballs.
If your kids want to "help" roll out the meatballs, use an icecream scoop (the kind with the springloaded handle) to make them all the same size. Then just spray a little Pam on their hands and let them help mommy make meatballs. My kids did this when they were little - they love to help me in the kitchen even now. :D
