Publix Penny Item: SALAD DRESSING!

This week's Publix Penny Item is.....
Publix Salad Dressing!

Remember:  The Penny Item coupon must be presented at time of purchase.  It can be found in your Wednesday (or Thursday, if that's when your ad starts) newspaper.  You must have at least $10 worth of items BEFORE coupons are deducted to get the 1¢ item.  One Penny Item per customer.
Helpful hints for the newspaper hunt:
*These were tips I received from readers, if you have found it elsewhere, please leave a comment!  I don't do my shopping on Wednesday, so I don't buy that paper.

Extra Publix Deals Using Family Dollar Coupons

For those of you whose Publix accepts Family Dollar as a competitor - I've pulled together all the items that match up with the current Family Dollar Coupon Booklet (in stores now).  Some of these items weren't in my Highlights List because they didn't make great deals on their own - but they're a little better with these matchups!
Just remember that you cannot stack a MFR q + Publix store Q + a Competitor Store Q, you'll have to pick which store coupon is the best to stack with your MFR q's.  These coupons expire on 3/31 and can also be printed from HERE
NOTE: Some Publix do NOT accept these - give yours a call if you're unsure!

Suave Catalina at Bi-Lo: UPDATE!

Well, guys - let me start out with an apology.  If you already went and tried my "not-so-Suave" scenario, you'll know by now it was a dud.  Apparently, instead of getting your 4th Suave free at checkout as part of the B3 ~ Get 1 Free promotion - you get it as a catalina coupon. That makes my previous scenario groupings totally wacko.
I just spent way too much money on Kids Shampoos, and I was so frazzled, I even forgot to get rainchecks for the Suave deodorants!  Ugh - do you ever just have one of those trips??
Okay, here's your new and improved scenario - my way of making up for the last one.  It's only good until tomorrow, so get it tonight or at least get rainchecks!
*The 1st is the most expensive transaction, after that, they are cheaper due to the Freebie Coupon.

1) Buy 3 Suave Kids/Professionals Shampoos @ $1.69 ea
Use (1) 50¢/2 or $1/2 Q from the 3/14 SS
Pay $4.18 ~ Get a Free Suave Coupon

2) Buy (3) Suave Kids Shampoos @ $1.69 ea
Use (1) 50¢/2 or $1/2 Q + (1) Free Suave Coupon
Pay $2.40 ~ Get a Free Suave Coupon

Keep going for as long as you want with these freebie coupons - the cost will be $2.40 each time.  That's just 80¢ ea!  While this doesn't seem awesome when you're used to getting free shampoo - the Tear-Free Kids Shampoo doesn't go on sale very often, so it's a good buy in my opinion.

Got Ink?

If you're a couponer, you go through ink at lightning speed!  And when you run out, it feels like you are the only one in the world missing out on all those deals  - I know this, because last time I ran out, I was too cheap to buy ink for a month.... :)

InkOrbit is a great option for getting discount replacement cartridges at up to 85% Off - and right now they're running a March Madness sale!  PLUS - if your total comes to $55 or more, you will get FREE Shipping!  Just click the image on the right to check out pricing and see if your printer type is included in the list of available cartridges.

These are Re-manufactured Cartridges, but they have a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee and a 1-800 number for Customer Service.
  • Here's a screenshot of the one I am ordering - the black cartridge for my HP Photosmart is normally $25.95.  Inkorbit has it for just $13.99!

  • Buying twinpacks are a good idea too, so you'll have a backup - and it will get you closer to your $55 (Think: Free Shipping) mark.  Those color cartridges are so expensive!

FREE CVS Shampoo & Conditioner!

If you scan your card at the Magical Coupon Machine inside CVS, you are likely to get a $1/1 CVS brand Shampoo/Conditioner coupon.  Well, Jess at The Frugal Life noticed that the CVS shampoo/conditioners pictured above are only 99¢!
You can usually get another of these scanner coupons EVERY DAY, so get all you can while they're still printing!

Donation Alert! - If you are loyal to just one shampoo, and this ain't it - just toss this in your donation box every time you score one!  You don't know how many folks out there would love some CVS Kiwi Shampoo.

More Information on Mililtary Commissaries

Thanks to workshop attendee and Time 2 Save fan, Kim, I've been able to round up some more information about using coupons at military commissaries.  Here are a few highlights:
  • Coupons are accepted under the same conditions that are stated on the coupon
  • Store coupons can not be accepted at commissaries...only manufacturer coupons
  • Expired coupons can be used only at overseas commissaries (up to 6 months).  Otherwise they must be in date.
  • Commissaries do not double or triple coupons.
  • Internet coupons are acceptable as long as they are manufacturer coupons.
  • When sending expired (or any) coupons to overseas commissaries, please cut them out of the insert before sending.
This is a great activity to involve your kids.  Not only is it an opportunity to have a conversation about the sacrifice our military makes for our freedom, but you will also receive a Thank You note several weeks after sending them. You can send coupons you aren't going to use or expired coupons to:

Ask Walgreens??

I (Kasey) recently spent time with a Walgreens Manager who was very open to hearing our questions and concerns.  He emailed the coupon policy below that he received from corporate.  It does not address Register Rewards.
Here is your chance to voice your questions, concerns, and comments to time2save@hotmail.com.  Make sure to include WALGREENS in the subject line.  We will send a compiled list of all of your emails to Walgreens.   Hopefully we'll get their attention and they'll see the necessity of having some sort of general guidelines regarding Register Rewards that are consistent.

Coupon Policy For Walgreens
Use the information below to ensure that your store is following the appropriate policy when accepting both Walgreens and manufacturer coupons.

Can a customer use both a Manufacturer's coupon and Walgreens coupon for the same item in a purchase?

One Walgreen and one manufacturer coupon can be used for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits such use.
Walgreens Roto Ad Coupons, Instant Value Coupons (IVC), and a manufacturer's coupon can be used towards the purchase of any one item. "One coupon per purchase" means one coupon must be tendered for each PIECE sold.

What happens if the Manufacturer coupon's value is more than the retail value?
Walgreens does not provide cash back if a coupon is presented for more than the purchase value of the item (e.g., the customer is using the coupon to purchase a clearance item).
If the retail of the item is less than the face value of the coupon:
the coupon value shall be the retail value if the state requires taxes to be paid on that item,
the coupon value shall be the retail value plus taxes if the state does not require taxes to be paid on the item.

Can a customer use a coupon after a sale has been made?
All valid coupons must be presented to the cashier at the time of sale only!

If there is no quantity limit on a Walgreens coupon can a manager impose his/her own limit?
Yes, managers have the right to limit the quantities of all advertised items.

Does Walgreens price match or accept coupons from other retailers?
Walgreens does not price match with other retailer.
Walgreens does not accept coupons from other retailers or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
Walgreens does not accept expired coupons.

She Speaks Conference

SHE SPEAKS is a conference for women who have been called into ministry through speaking, writing or as a director of  women's ministry.  Many of you have joined the Proverbs 31 daily devotions through our link.  Kasey and I love the realness and heart of the P31 ministry.  (If you'd like to sign up for the daily devotions, click HERE.) In this conference, women learn how to take their calling and communication to the next level.  There are several scholarships that are being given away (details are HERE.)  As Time 2 Save grows, Kasey and I have been given many opportunities to speak truth into the lives of women (& men) who come looking to save money, but leave with hope and inspiration that the God of the universe can use them to be His hands and feet in the lives of those around them.  We would love to be chosen for one of the scholarships to be able to seek wisdom and develop better communication skills as we move forward.  If you'd like to attend the conference or want more details, click HERE.

Bacon-Grilled-Cheese Sandwiches

It's a chilly, thunder-stormy Sunday, and we came home from church with a van full of wet, hungry boys.  I had no ideas for a  warm, comforting lunch - but I did have a fridge full of cheese (Free at Food Lion this week!) and Ready-to-Eat Bacon (50¢ at Walgreens last week w/ $1.50 coupon!)   What emerged will go down in Miles Family History as the most perfect lunch EVER.

The boys had an American Cheese & Bacon Melt, while my husband opted for a Pepper-Jack & Bacon Melt.  I got crazy and did a little bit of both on mine!

So if you have some cheese & bacon in your fridge (That ready-to-eat kind expires QUICKLY) - then give it a try!   It's soooooooooo yummy......

Simplify Sunday 3/21

Debbie McCuiston, self-proclaimed "Queen of Clutter-Free", does a segment for us each Sunday on simplifying our lives, getting rid of "clutter", and focusing on what's important.  We're really excited about this new segment - and hope you are too!  Take it away Debbie....

It's that time of year when visions of spring projects are dancing in our heads. If you are like me I have a project list a mile long. There are always more projects than time or money. There have been many times we have wondered if other people have a million projects that they are always working on or thinking about. Is it true that there are people that live in this great country that don't wake up everyday thinking about working on projects or really working on projects? What do they do with their time--or are they bored out of their minds?
We are dreamers-- always dreaming and planning what home improvement  we will tackle next. It seems that we have had the same projects going on for at least the last 5 years. I have noticed that as soon as you get close to finishing something-another something breaks. So you stop what you are doing and fix the problem. And on and on it goes.  Of our million pending projects, about half are ones we started and didn't finish. It seems to be a never ending circle. I am sure if we EVER get everything completed the very next day it will be time to start over and redo the first project because it has been so long ago!

I sat down this year determined to figure out why we never seem to make any progress on the project list. After taking a realistic look at what is going on, I have come to the conclusion that we needed a plan that we could stick with. I am one of those people that needs to put it on paper and be able to mark it off when it is completed. I guess its sort of like a grown-up sticker chart.

As we started making the list, we wrote down all our dream projects and all the stuff that has to be done before the house falls apart.  We decided not to take the advice of all the "how to" shows that tell you to upgrade or repair with the idea of selling someday...always asking what this repair will add to the value of our home in the sellers market. To tell you the truth, I don't care. We plan on staying in this house until the Lord moves us on--either to heaven or somewhere else. We have been in our home for almost 25 years. I like it just fine. There are memories in every room in this house. I don't need an upgrade or to keep up with the latest or greatest. We have worked hard to make this house a home. All we really want and need is to make our home a place that people feel comfortable in, and that they know we care about them. The Lord has blessed us and we want to be able to share that with everyone and anyone that comes into our home. Now we have a purpose and a plan, next is putting it into practice.

We went thru the list and put them in order of importance--sorry that didn't work. So we listed them in order of what we wanted to do, grouping like projects together. We came up with 28 major projects. They range from finishing the rock wall in the front yard to adding a sun room on the side of the house. Then we took each project and broke these down into all the steps it would take to complete that job and gave it a ball park cost. We wrote each project on an envelope and the cost, numbered them, then put them in order. Now when we get a little extra money we will start filling each envelope. (The envelope system works like a dream, thanks to Dave Ramsey's financial peace university) When that project is funded we can begin. As hard as it was, not one of the envelopes have "hire this job out" on them, much to my sweet husband's disappointment. I guess I will have to continue to watch HGTV to be able to tell him how to do the next project on the list. Now we just need to find our own "rich uncle" and get a sneak peek at his very generous will. We just need $50K to get it all done.  Oh well, looking at the big picture and the BIG price tag it seems impossible, but breaking it down to one job at a time, it is much easier to see progress. So now in five years we can look back and see how far we have come and where we are headed.

I believe we are like this with God.  We want to see the whole plan He has for our life. We think that God needs us to check the blueprint and see if it goes along with what we had in mind. But in reality if we saw the big picture and knew what was ahead we would be scared to death. We just need to trust that He has made these plans just for us before time began. If we keep our eyes on HIM and don't let the world set the standard for our lives It will get finished. In Jeremiah 29:11 God talks about the plans He has for us - plans to prosper us not to harm us....We don't need to see it all we just need to trust. When we plant a garden, we trust that those little tiny seeds will grow and prosper. If it is so easy to trust a seed, why do we try to second guess God or wonder where He is in all of this? Let us try to be more like the little ones in our life that trust us every time we hold out our hand and they put their sweet little hand in ours and would follow us to the ends of the earth and never think twice about it. May we set our eyes on the prize before us and follow with a child like faith. God is in control when we aren't!!!  Don't miss the journey of a lifetime worrying about the "what ifs". He has loved us since the world was spoken into place. Trust Him it's the best and hardest thing you will ever do!! My prayers are with you!!!

Any questions or suggestions please let me know--Love hearing from you queenofclutterfree@yahoo.com
