  1. My favorite tradition is Midnight Mass.
The candles, the music, the ancient traditions - and my favorite Advent song "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel". The kids are dozing in the pews, visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads, and the grown ups are bright-eyed with joyful expectation - both of the coming of the Christchild and the morning's festivities.
It's special and sacred and lovely.

  2. We decided a few years ago to build memories with our *Christmas Monies* We now take a trip with our children, 18, 14 and 5. One year, we did Chicago. Last year, NYC, Philly and DC in a whirlwind of 10 days. Even our youngest who was only three while we were in Chicago remembers certain things about our trip. We have had a pretty tragic and financially tolling year. We are planning on a couple of day trips this year. Our Christmas Trip is something we look forward to each year and our kids will remember them long after the wrapping paper and bows are gone.

  3. We always get together with family every year for a big meal and time to exchange gifts, and just catch up with each other after a busy year. This will be the first year I have to miss this tradition as my husband and I now live on Signal Mountain, while our family is in Mississippi. My husband worked as a children's minister, and the church could no longer support his staff position, as tithes have been low this year. So he has taken a new job to get us by until something better comes along. Thanks to a friend, I have been introduced to "couponing" and your website, and it has been a God-send for us to save so much on groceries. Thank you for the ministry that you have begun by just sharing what you know with others. Hopefully, I will have saved enough money through our grocery budget that I will make it home for Christmas next year!

  4. Somebody (either my mom, aunt, or grandmother) always makes boiled custard instead of egg nog for Christmastime. So yummy!

Just became a Facebook fan and signed up for the e-mail feed.

  5. My family always had an artificial tree when I was growing up, but when I got married my husband insisted on a real tree. We went the day before Thanksgiving to a local tree farm and I watched my husband agonize over the perfect tree. We finally picked one out, brought it home, and it didn't fit! He had to cut part of the tree to get it into our living room. It is now our tradition to go each year the day before Thanksgiving to the tree farm to get our tree. (I took until year 3 until we finally picked a tree that would fit in the house without trimming it first LOL). Now we have a little girl to share this tradition with us. I love this tradition that started our first year together and I look forward to visiting the Christmas tree farm every year.

  6. Family time on Christmas Eve is our favorite. Economic times have forced us to focus less on gifts and more on sharing our time. Merry Christmas to all.

  7. Our favorite tradition is spending Christmas morning at home with our two girls. We have to travel to both families later in the day but having the time with just the four of us is precious.

  8. One of our favorite traditions is spending Christmas Eve watching movies together. We have three boys ages 18,16, and 15. They draw names between each other and on Christmas Eve they get to open the gifts to each other. We also give them a gift on Christmas Eve ( usually a board game ). After that we usually have hot chocolate and cookies. I love this time together!!

  10. My sisters and I and our offsprings and their offsprings have a holiday meal @ twelve on Christmas Eve. After over eating and visiting, we play dirty Santa.
Christmas Eve night I attend the Candle Light Service at my church. It is a sweet service honoring our savior's birth.
Christmas Day I spend the day with my daughter and her family.

eat and exchange gifts and enjoy each others company.
