Kmart Doubles

If you've got your vision on Kmart doubles, here are some updates for you.  I (Kelly) went by our local Cleveland store last night to get some clarifications.  As Jamie has told you, the biggest change is that you MUST have the Kmart Rewards Card to participate in the doubles. The promotion is kind of like a perks for being a card member. This is a loyalty card, not a credit card.  It says to give it 72 hours to be processed, but I turned mine in at the service desk and since they weren't that busy she keyed it in right then.  Here are some things to remember:

• Only 5 Manufacturer coupons will be doubled each day (this is monitored with the card)
• If the coupon says "Limit one per purchase," they are treating it as "One per transaction." I tried to explain the difference in these two wordings, but the manager said that's how their computers are programed.
• Have your coupons and 5 items ready. They would like to go through them and make sure they are correct before starting the transaction. This is for you.  If you accidentally picked up the wrong size or product for a coupon and it is rejected, then you will not be able to double any coupons for the rest of the day. (again, this is monitored by the card program, not the store).
• If an item is $3.29 and you have a $2.00 coupon, no overage will be given.  The coupon will be doubled up to the price of the item, but not over it.

For those of you who have called your store and been told they weren't participating, the manager let me read the print out from corporate. It said 150 stores nationwide were participating and they would be notified by email on Sunday morning.  Therefore, your store may very well be participating, but may not know it until tomorrow morning. 

I also saw several great deals while I was there.  My favorite was some girl's winter flannel p.j.s (size 7/8) marked down to $1.99. There were several racks of winter clothes for all kid's sizes marked down to $1.99.  Up front, there was a display of manager's special items that included G2 Gatorade for 50¢...if you have the coupons from several week's ago that would make it free without any doubling.

We will continue working on good deals for doubles.  If you find any, please let everyone know through Facebook...we've set up a Discussions tab specifically for Kmart.  Stay in touch through the week as the manager knows how to get in touch with us if they have issues that need to be addressed.  The most important thing is that we want to have fun, be ethical and kind...always!

I've spent the last few hours gathering information, because I want you coupon-recruits to be solidly prepared for the Kmart Super-Doubles Event coming 4/4 - 4/10.  If you have any questions or know of a coupon that would be good to add to the list - leave a comment below!

 What IS Kmart Super-Doubles?

Kmart Super-Doubles is an exciting (although often frustrating) week of shopping.  During this week, Kmart will double manufacturer coupons up to $2 (Doubled up to $4!)  This makes lots of items FREE - and most people like to play the "Get only the free stuff and leave" game during this event.  This time, Kmart has added some strict rules to the game, and before you can even play you'll have to sign up for the Kmart Shop Your Way Rewards Card.  Your membership won't go into effect for 72 hours, so do it as soon as possible to be ready!  

Here are the other rules you need to know: 

-Manufacturer Coupons up to and including $2 value will be doubled 

-In-store Activation MUST BE tied to your Shop Your Way to Rewards card 

-Does not include Kmart Store Coupons 

-Limit 5 total coupons per customer per day 

-First 5 coupons provided by customer will be doubled

PART IV  

Why your friends might look at you like you're a crazy-person for going.

Kmart Doubles is a bad word for some, and with good reason!  Here are some troubles folks have run into - and hopefully they've fixed all those problems by now.

• In the past, there have been little or no coupon limits, meaning folks would arrive at the store after  hours  days of preparation to find the shelves cleared of every freebie. The 5 limit fixes this - but you'll still have to get there early for the good freebies.

• K-Mart is known for being unpredictable about coupons in general - but ESPECIALLY during Super-Doubles week.  Sometimes if an item is $3.95 and you try to use a $2 coupon (which will double to $4) it will go through fine.  Other times, it will just not double.  Other times the cashier will look at you as if you were trying to steal something and hand it back. 

• Lots of folks are unhappy about the *5* coupon limit, because with the hassle involved, it's almost not worth the trip.  For those who might try to get around that rule, be warned: The *5* Coupon-Per-Day limit will be tied to your K-Mart Rewards Card.

• At one time, Internet Printables weren't accepted, then they were.  Then they weren't again.  And so on and so forth - you get the picture.... typical Kmart-ness. 

The list of troubles can get quite long, so let's just say - it's been rough for some.  The main thing to remember is to be calm, kind, and sane enough to let the toothpaste go if you have to.  Then, when you get home, call 1-866-562-7848 and speak to a Customer Service rep.  Hopefully, you can get your issue resolved quickly and efficiently!

K-Mart Coupon Troubles

Well, what seemed too good to last, was in fact too good to last.  The $10 off $20 Kmart Coupon that appeared yesterday to the great delight of the couponing masses, is being refused at MANY Kmart stores either at the cash register or with signs posted at the entrance.  An email from corporate has been sent out to the stores, advising them NOT to accept the coupon (even though it was posted on Kmart's website).
*Note: Some have reported that it will be honored starting next week?  Ha.  Don't hold your breath.

Sometimes printable coupons are intended for a certain small group of people, but end up available to the general public (How, we don't know) -  then the stores go into panic mode.  We & our sweet, sweet diaper deals get summarily shut down.

Part of me kind of wonders if they don't do this sort of thing on purpose, you know?  Drum up lots of excitement, send people rushing to the stores, and then refuse to accept your coupons.  I guarantee you about half the people who'd planned to use that coupon bought their items anyway, out of convenience, humiliation, or just plain defeat.

K-Mart Super Doubles Coupon List

If you are planning on stopping by Kmart during the week 4/4-4/10 for Super-Doubles (see HERE), I'm sure you're already thinking of a few coupons worth tucking away for the big event.  I'm guessing that $2 All Detergent coupon will make for a good deal, and maybe the $2/1 Huggies too.  I know it's early yet, but what coupons are you guys hoarding away/ordering in preparation?

HOLEY MOLEY: Kmart Doubles Is BACK!

I can't believe it - it's almost here - the return of Kmart Doubles!!!  For all you newbies, that means Kmart will double coupons up to $2 for total of $4 Off.... Yes you heard me right - FOUR DOLLARS!

The first doubles event is April 4th, that's right EASTER SUNDAY!  Of course, with the return of Kmart Doubles comes the inevitable NEW RULES.  Looks like a 5 Coupon Limit has been imposed, and you will have to swipe your Kmart Rewards Card to get your coupons to double.  Here is an excerpt from the letter sent to Angie over at ShortOnCents:

"This event is for select participating Kmart locations from 04/04/10 to 04/10/10.The rules for this event are:
-Manufacturer Coupons up to and including $2 Value are doubled up to $2 no matter what the retail price of a single item is
-Does not include Kmart Store Coupons

 I'm actually happy about the 5-Coupon Limit, since I hate getting there and finding cleared shelves.   What do you guys think about all this?

K-Mart Catalina Problems & Catalinas Explained

I wrote a few days ago about an unadvertised Post cereal freebie at Kmart this week, and a Glade Candle moneymaker going on as well.  Well, it looks like many of you have had alot of trouble finding the 2 oz Fragrance Collection candles which are supposedly $2.50, much less getting your catalina to print out.  (ARRGHH!)  The Post Cereal is trouble too, but just because many Kmart's don't carry that new Health Advantage kind on the coupon yet. (Booo)

So I just wanted to warn you guys not to make a special trip to Kmart just for these items, but to just keep an eye out for them if you happen to be there.  This deal has been confirmed on other sites, but I'm sorry for the problems it's been causing with our readers!

What IS a "Catalina"?

A catalina is a coupon that spits out after your receipt, when you buy certain items.  The coupons can be either "$$ OFF Coupons" or "$$ Off Your Next Order(ONYO).  Right now, there is a Pillsbury Catalina deal going on at a few stores, including Kroger, Bi-Lo, etc.

Buy any pillsbury refrigerated baked goods between 1/25 and 2/21:
Buy 4 - get $2 OFYO
Buy 5 - get $3 OYNO
Buy 6 - get $4 OYNO

Why Didn't My Catalina Print?

In this case, if you bought 6 crescent rolls, and your $4 didn't print, you should definitely call the Catalina Phone Number to get your refund. This happens often to customers, and here's why:

• Stores sometimes do not have the catalina info updated in their registers towards the beginning of a sale.  
• Catalina machine is not working/turned on. 
• Some of your items were not participating items.
• That store is probably out to get you. (Kidding!)

I hope this helps you a little, catalina's can be a GREAT way to save money (and sometimes even make it!) if know what you're dealing with.  Remember that you can usually roll catalinas: Use them ($$ OYNO) to buy the participating products again, thereby earning another catalina, and so on and so forth.....

K-Mart Super Doubles Returns TODAY!!!

It's been confirmed!  K-Mart is bringing back Super-Doubles this week!  So far we've got the green-light from these locations:
Athens
Fort Oglethorpe
Hwy 153
Hwy 58
Cleveland

If your store is not listed and you'd like to know if they are participating call and ask if they are partcipating in the Kmart doubling event?  Do you double up to $2?  Is there a limit on number of coupons per day or per item?  Do you accept internet printables?  Are there any other rules that I should be aware of?

This is the guideline that was given for Cleveland, Chattanooga and Fort Oglethorpe.  Athens wasn't sure.  Remember it always goes back to a managers discretion.
