  1. At an early age, our oldest son, now 18 "figured out" there was no Santa. We made the decision as a family to not "believe" in Santa, but our Saviour, Jesus. Our kids, 18, 14 and 5 have never truly believed in Santa, but know all blessings are from Jesus.

  2. We keep Jesus the focus of the family at Christmas but placing the Nativity in a prominent place, reading the Christmas story and attending church services. We still have fun and games with Santa but we all know Jesus is the reason for the season and is our Christmas Miracle.

  3. We put a Nativity set up in our home, and go through the story of the birth of Jesus with our son. We try to take as many chances as possible to remind him the reason for Christmas is not the getting, but the giving, as Jesus gave to us.

  4. We, too, have decided not to teach our children about Santa, but instead focus on Christ's birth and ultimate sacrifice. We are very thankful for a church that is grounded in the Word!

  5. We wake up and sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus, as well as having the Nativity set at the center of the living room, the Advent Wreath on the kitchen table, reading the Nativity story to the children, and other little reminders all throughout the advent season. Those commercials bombard the kids so much with greed and materialism - we have to at least TRY to bombard them from all sides with the truth!

  6. We make it a tradition to read the story of Jesus' coming prior to engaging in food or merriment. The children are intent on listening and we have never made a big deal out of expensive gift giving. This has helped us all have our focus on Jesus Christ.
