  1. We love to make cornflake cookies.
    1 jar of Peanut Butter
    1 jar of Karo Syrup
    6 cups of cornflakes
    1 cup of sugar

Boil sugar and syrup for one minute over medium heat. Then add peanut butter and mix well. Add cornflakes. Mix and drop onto wax paper to dry.
PS- the Peanut butter and cornflakes were free this year since I got them from the Earthfare Pantry Makeover! lol

  2. We have a lot of finger foods and my favorite is pigs in a blanket. I try to make them lower fat so I use reduced fat pillsbury crescent rolls and turkey hillshire farm smokies or fat free hotdogs cut up. They are a hit with the little ones!

  11. Pink stuff! Use 1 box red gelatin (I prefer strawberry), container of cool whip, drained crushed pineapple, drained mandarin oranges (you can cut up smaller) and chopped nuts of your choice (pecans are my choice). Combine, stir, chill. Tastes better if has time to meld 2-24 hours before eating.

  14. OOohhhh, Peppermint Patties:

    Ingredients:

    3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
    1 1/2 teaspoons peppermint extract
    4 cups confectioners sugar
    _____________________________
    3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
    2 teaspoons shortening

    Directions:

In large mixing bowl, combined condensed milk and peppermint extract. Beat in enough confectioners sugar, a little at a time, to form a stiff dough that is no longer stickly. Form into one inch balls, then place on wax paper and flatten with fingers to form patties. Let patties dry at room temperature for two hours, turning once.

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate and shortening, stirring often. Remove from heat. Dip patties, one at a time, into chocolate by laying them on the tines of the fork and lowering fork into the chocolate. Let cool on wax paper until set.

  15. I love making and eating peanut butter balls..

    Peanut Butter Balls
2 cups (500 grams) creamy peanut butter

1/4 cup (57 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature

    1/4 teaspoon salt

    1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

    2 - 2 1/2 cups (230 - 290 grams) confectioners (powdered or icing) sugar

    Chocolate Coating

9 ounces (255 grams) semi sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped

    2 tablespoons (25 grams) shortening

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Place the peanut butter, unsalted butter, and salt in a microwaveable bowl, and heat in the microwave for about one minute or until just soft (check and stir the ingredients every 20 seconds). Stir in the vanilla extract and confectioners sugar and mix until it has the consistency of a dough (add more sugar if necessary).

Roll the dough into 1 inch (2.5 cm) round balls. Place on the cookie sheet and refrigerate for about one hour, or until firm.

Melt the chocolate and shortening in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water. Dip the balls, one at a time, in the melted chocolate, making sure the entire ball is coated with chocolate. Then, with two spoons or a dipping fork, remove the peanut butter ball from the melted chocolate, allowing any excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl. Place the chocolate covered balls back on the baking sheet. When all the balls have been dipped in the chocolate, place in the refrigerator until the chocolate has set. Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks. To serve: place in small fluted candy cups.

Note: If you want to make Buckeyes: place a toothpick into each peanut butter ball and dip, one ball at a time, into the melted chocolate, leaving the top quarter of each ball undipped.

Makes about 40 pieces, depending on size.

  16. I don't know if I am too late to enter but our favorite receipe is my Grannie's teacake cookies. She always made them every year and now I make them. She never had a receipe and I go by memory but basically you make your standard sugar cookie and then for the icing:

in a sauce pan over med heat
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    2 Tablespoons baking cocoa
    1/2 (or so) milk
    heat to boiling, stirring often

remove from heat and add 1 box of powdered sugar. Stir until blended and quickly smear the icing on top of the cooled cookies. It sets up quickly so you have to spread it fast! :)

    Enjoy!
