Report Card Rewards: Great Freebies for Good Grades!

Report cards will be coming out in a couple weeks for my kids, and I've spent some serious man-hours researching the subject of report card rewards for me and you both!  I found some goodies, but was also disappointed that some of the restaurants around me no longer participated in these programs, due to economic strain.  Here is a list of CURRENT Nationwide programs, and a list at bottom of the places you can call in your area to inquire!

Blockbuster Free Rental:
If you have a child in grades K-12, Blockbuster is offering a FREE movie rental when your child brings in his/her report card showing at least a B average. Click HERE for all the details.  If you homeschool or have a weird grading system (Checks, Smiley Faces, Heiroglyphics, etc) I'm sure it won't be a problem - I've done it in the past at Chuck-E-Cheese with a crazy report card.  - Thanks, SavingYourCents!

Chuck E Cheese Tokens:
We always did this as kids, it's the only way we ever got to go to Chuck E. Cheese!  Take in your report card (any type of grading system) and receive 3 token for every "A" equivalent, 2 for every "B", 1 for every "C".  There's a 15 token limit per child, and you must make a food purchase.  My mom always sat at the table with 1 coke (which we shared) to count as our food purchase.  See?  I come by my cheapness honestly!

Krispy Kreme:
Get 1 Donut per "A", up to 6 Donuts per student!!  Man, if you had 4 kids, you'd be bringing home 2 Dozen of these babies!  *Krispy Kreme is my absolute FAVORITE donut....

Merita Bakery Outlet:
Print out THIS Certificate and have the teacher sign it.  Bring it into any Bakery Outlet (see locations) and your child will receive a FREE Hostess or Dolly Madison snack cake while YOU will receive a FREE loaf of bread!

So Many More!
McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Chik-fil-a, Sbarros, Wendy's, Cold Stone Creamery, Applebees, Sonic and many other fast food & casual dining restaurants also offer report card/school behavior incentives.  However, they vary by location or franchise and are often only offered THROUGH the school.  In addition, local eateries and attractions (i.e. Bowling Lanes, arcades, comic shops, ice cream parlours, etc..) usually have their own homegrown reward programs!  Call around your area to see what kind of great freebies your kiddo can get for a job well done.

Know of any I missed?  Please leave a comment and share with us!

Reader Tips!

If you have reader tips, we LOVE to hear from you!  You can comment right on this post or shoot us an email and I'll stick them in the next list!  We can't promise to get to all of them in a timely manner, but we'll sure try.  Thanks and enjoy!
  •  First off, just want to remind you to stop by Food Lion and see if you can't snag a Kraft Tearpad before they're gone!  The coupons are wonderful ($1 off Kraft Singles, $1 off Capri Sun) and 50¢ is donated to Easter Seals every time you use one!
  • Andrea & Aaron wrote in to tell me that the $1/1 Capri Sun coupon from the Food Lion Kraft Tearpad will make Capri Suns 50¢ at Wal-Mart!  They're on closeout for only $1.50 - what a deal! Those tearpad Q's ARE Manufacturer Q's, so hold your ground if they give you troubles. (Thanks Guys!)
  • Annette found yellow $1/1 peelies on Emerald Nuts (the green canisters) at her Food Lion, making them only $1!  If you have already bought a couple cans and still have the peelies - they will make Emerals peanuts only 62¢ at Publix starting tomorrow.
  • Robin wanted to tell us about a cool Build-A-Bear promo where you get a FREE Easter Basket & Candy with purchase!  Read her post HERE
  • Kelly (Yes, ♥OUR♥ very own Kelly) got an email from Publix indicating they have plans to build a store in Cleveland, TN!!  It won't be for a good long while, but I am already so excited!!
  • Lissa thankfully reminded me about that we can get FREE Sausage, Biscuits & Gravy at Waffle House by printing this coupon HERE by 3/15! (Mmmmmm)
  • Charmyn emailed to let me know that I am a terrible "Linker" (not really, she was very nice :)) and that to sign up for the FREE Gevalia Coffeemaker you have to go HERE and not to the crazy link that showed up in my post of its own accord.  Thanks Charmyn!!

Cooke's & SuperSaver Coming Soon!!

For all you hometown shoppers out there who wish they had matchups for Cooke's & SuperSavers....  well they're coming to TIme2Save soon!  I just finished chatting with Maranda from The Frugal Freeloader - and she'll be sharing the highlights with us each week here on Time2Save! (Thanks, Maranda!)  Here are some interesting tidbits I just learned about Cooke's & Super Savers that's got me pumped for the new weekly ads:
  • Cooke's now has a Rewards Card.  Although I think the "prizes" offered in return for your shopping points are kind of lame and fundraiser-ish, I am over the moon about their new Paperless Coupons!  That's right, clean out the wax and listen up good: Cooke's new rewards card has loadable E-Coupons!!  Go HERE to sign up and get them loaded to your Cooke's Rewards Card.
  • I just found some Super-Saver online coupons as well HERE - stack them with MFR coupons for extra savings!
  • Both Super Savers & Cooke's have had flyers or tearpads full of manufacturer coupons recently available in the stores.  I'll try to give you that heads up when I find out -  I'm so excited!!!
Leave a comment if you're a Super Savers or Cooke's shopper - we want to know who you are!

Hot Coffee Deals! (UPDATED LINK)

My (Jamie Here!) morning routine:
My 7 year old never fails to wake me at 6:30 or 7 to announce that he needs socks, or that we're out of clean spoons, or possibly that one of "the brothers" won't share the back of the cereal box (not the cereal, just the back of the box).  After my sunny wake-up call, I get out of bed and stumble, bleary-eyed, down the stairs and in the general direction of the coffee-maker.  As always, I kick myself for not prepping a pot the night before.  Now it's too late and I have to run the boys to school.... sigh.  Finally home again.  Coffee-started.  Sitting down to the computer with hot caffeiney goodness - (sip) - ahhhh....  NOW I can begin my day!

BOGO Physicians Formula Facebook Coupon

Register HERE to get a free BOGO coupon for Physicians Formula Makeup!
This is a GREAT coupon, because when that Physician's Formula goes BOGO at Rite-Aid or CVS in upcoming weeks (I'm assuming it will eventually) you will get 2 products FREE!  *This will be sent to your inbox, so check your spam messages as well!

Logic of using a BOGO Coupon on a BOGO Sale

NOTE: The following only applies to stores who offer "True BOGO" (I.e. Drugstores & Florida groceries).  Stores that really give you 1/2 off each item no matter how many you buy, don't apply in this reasoning.

I get lots of questions about using a BOGO on a BOGO sale - how can it make both free?  Is is cheating?  What stores allow this?  I've had problems with it myself - probably 50% of the times I've tried, I've been denied.  Sometimes even made to feel like I was doing something dishonest or illegal.  Well folks, here's the logic and the documentation to back it up!

Logic behind BOGO Coupon on a BOGO Item:

When a store offers BOGO, the customer pays for one item, and the store gives you the 2nd item free. (Item # 2 is FREE)

When you use a bogo coupon, the cashier writes Item # 1's Value (i.e. $4) on the coupon and sends it in to the manufacturer. The company doesn't care what the store sale was, they just reimburse the store for the $4, in effect paying for item #1.  (Item #1 is FREE)

Just because you are smart enough to take advantage of a store offer at the same time as a Manufacturer offer does not mean you are "Cheating". This is totally ethical, and is even supported in the Rite-Aid Coupon Policy HERE
and the CVS Coupon Policy HERE.   Here's the Rite-Aid Quote:

"If a customer presents a Buy One Get One Free coupon for the purchase of two items that are on a Buy One Get One Free promotion; we accept the coupon, essentially making both items free."

Walgreens is a different story, since they don't have an official coupon policy.   If your store doesn't understand/allow the BOGO logic - it's best to just surrender and find a store that is more coupon-knowledgable/friendly.

Simplify Sundays: 3/7 (Being God's Hands & Feet... By Spring Cleaning!)

Debbie McCuiston, self-proclaimed "Queen of Clutter-Free", does a segment for us each Sunday on simplifying our lives, getting rid of "clutter", and focusing on what's important.  We're really excited about this new segment - and hope you are too!  Take it away Debbie....

Well ladies it's almost spring time!!! Praise the Lord!! If you are like me I love the snow. Not the day after when it starts to melt, or the mess it makes, but the time it is snowing. If it's winter and cold I believe it needs to snow. I don't like to be cold if it is not snowing. See, I am a Florida girl. I was born in New York but the family moved to Florida when I was 1 yr old. So when I moved to TN. in the late 70's to attend Bryan College, I had never seen snow. You could shake the rug out and I would be out taking pictures of the "snow".  I love the snow and all the warm fuzzy feelings that go with it. But now the possibilities of a good snow are over and I am ready for spring.
I love everything about spring!! The cool mornings, warm afternoon and the signs of everything coming back to life. Bring it on!! Have you noticed it doesn't get dark at 5 in the afternoon or that  you can hear the birds first thing in the morning?
I know you will find this had to believe but one of my favorite things about spring is "spring cleaning". No, I have not lost my ever loving mind. I do not live to clean but spring cleaning is a whole different world than regular  "saturday chore day". I love to open the windows and feel that fresh air with abit of a chill left in it. It feels so clean and fresh. All the germs that have been hiding in your home all winter now will be blown away with that spring air. My outlook on life even changes. I want to move more and play in the dirt, get the gardens in, fill up the bird feeders and dust off the patio furniture. By this time in the last of winter I start to notice all the things I have left undone. I am not sure why I notice the dirt and dust more, maybe it's all that sunshine or I go the eye doctor this time of year. But whatever it is --- boy do I have some major work to do.
One of the strangest spring cleaning rituals  I was introduced to a few years ago was the practice of "wall dusting". I grew up in a home that every wall was and still is covered in the famous 70's paneling. My dad oiled these with "Old English"oil once a year. It smelled for days. But never did we dust the walls. (guess they did get dusted during the oiling). I finally decided it is a Southern thing and I am so glad that Southern women care enough to take spring cleaning to a whole new level. With the invention of the swifter, dusting walls is a breeze. You won't believe the dust and grime that has collected on the walls while you weren't looking. Makes me glad the lady with the white glove test hasn't come in a few years. (Maybe she retired to a beach in Fla). Once you dust your walls you will be able to tell the difference right away.  Be advised this will begin the spring cleaning frenzy. Everything must be cleaned. I have thought of having a few baseboard washing parties and providing all the pizza you can eat. So far no one has returned the RSVP card.
Now I am going to be perfectly honest with you, if you are a smoker you will need to wash your walls and baseboards with some warm soapy water. You will be surprised how yellow they have become because of the nicotine.  You will need to wash until ALL the yellow gunk has been washed away. Helpful hint - these are  great items to save for the next time your teenager breaks curfew.
Spring is the time to be outside, but don't think these things don't need to be done--the lady with the white glove may come out of retirement just to check your walls and baseboards. Or if I get all of mine done and I am really, really bored I may drop in for a "little visit".  While you are down there cleaning those baseboards you will realize that they need a fresh coat of paint. (Reminds me of the children's story "If you give a mouse a cookie") Go ahead and get that paint brush out and paint away. If you have crown molding don't forget to get the ladder out and take a wet rag and wipe them down also. You will really be surprised how much better any room will look just by doing this simple task. Don't think you can only do halfway up the walls, unless you want to explain why you went with 2 shades of the same color on all your walls. By now you are probably are saying--"There is no way in God's green earth I am washing my walls--Ha Ha!"  I guarantee you will be thinking about it every time you set down to watch TV. So you might as well get them done and move on.
I realize that in the great scheme of things clean walls and baseboards don't mean a thing. But I also believe that if you have been blessed with a roof over your head, whether you rent or own your home, we are to take care of what we have been given. If you are not in great health or your life is in turmoil right now, don't worry about the baseboards. But if you have a dear friend that wants to help out in someway--remember you have a project you have been wanting to get to and they would love to help out. Sometimes God calls us to be His hands and feet , and wants to use us to bless others' lives.  Whether it is to have our home clean and ready to have a group of women in to allow you to invest in their lives, or to bless someone by humbling yourself enough to clean their walls and baseboards. Too often we ask God to use us but we want to be used on some grand scale--it is the simple act of serving others that is the biggest blessing to others. You will be surprised how blessed you will be by allowing the Lord to create a servant's heart in you. Being a blessing to others takes on a whole new look. This week get a jump start on your spring cleaning and when you are finished look around your part of the world and find someone that you can be a blessing to!!!!  Never pass up a opportunity to help others, you never know when you might be entertaining angels.  God is at work even in the simplest of tasks. Never under estimate the power of God to take the simple and bless the world!!!  Make sure you don't miss out--start at home and then branch out.
Please email me at queenofclutterfree@yahoo.com with the results when you step out of your comfort zone and become a blessing to others each day.
